Vocal Coaching

Start your vocal journey

Calm your nervous system, free your authentic voice.

Is something holding you back from singing the way you want to? You may be:

  • Battling performance anxiety
  • Feeling tense or disconnected from your voice
  • Not progressing, even with regular practice or lessons
  • Second-guessing your abilities and expression

These are common experiences—and they’re not a reflection of your talent.

I work with classical singers—from beginners to emerging professionals— who want to deepen their connection with their voice and instrument. Recognizing the vital role of the nervous system in voice and performance, my integrative approach helps singers unlock their full potential by strengthening both technique and emotional well-being. Grounded in the Bel Canto tradition and shaped by my experience as a performer and educator, my coaching offers a supportive space to explore your unique voice. With a focus on healthy technique and musical expression, I help singers develop a sustainable instrument and perform with confidence and authenticity.

My approach is trauma-informed, shaped by studies in nervous system regulation and years of experience supporting singers recovering from high-pressure or stressful training environments. You don’t have to figure it out alone. Let’s work together to find your voice.

Why Trauma-Informed Matters

Trauma-informed vocal coaching = strong technique + nervous system awareness + embodiment of your artistic spirit + a safe, supportive space to grow.

Trauma-informed vocal coaching recognizes the singer as a whole person, as the body, mind, and voice are deeply connected. Unlike traditional methods focused solely on technique, this approach integrates body awareness, emotional well-being, and personal expression to support authentic, sustainable performance. Drawing from holistic wellness practices and mindfulness, I create a safe, student-centered space where singers can build resilience, develop self-trust, and grow both technically and artistically.

Given the physical and emotional demands placed on singers, addressing these interconnected aspects of self-care is key to maintaining vocal health, reducing anxiety, and sustaining creative growth. Trauma-informed coaching offers a vital foundation that supports long-term resilience and empowers singers to thrive both technically and artistically throughout their careers.

Authentic musicians create authentic music.

My Vocal Journey

I sang all my life, but I began my vocal training as a young singer in college. My naïveté led me to place enormous trust in my teachers—often at the expense of trusting myself. I was often given repertoire beyond my technical ability, and while I craved the artistry, I didn’t yet have the training or awareness of what optimal vocal performance truly requires. I wanted so badly to succeed as a singer that I tried to mold myself into what others expected of me, continuing to ignore my own instincts and needs in the process.

Years of working with multiple instructors—some helpful, others (too many) technically and even psychologically harmful—combined with unresolved trauma and a profound disconnection from my body, left my voice stagnant. I would practice for hours each day and still feel no meaningful progress, trapped in a cycle of effort without results. Despite my dedication, operating from a dysregulated system disrupted any semblance of progress, and I lacked the knowledge or guidance to navigate it safely and effectively. It wasn’t until I did the inner work, sought education in psychology and related fields, and finally found the right teacher that I began to grow—not just as a singer, but as an artist.

This journey led me to becoming a trauma-informed vocal coach. I know what it’s like to sing from a place of disconnection, to feel lost in the process, and to try to heal alone. All singers—regardless of background or life experience—deserve more than technical instruction; they need teachers who understand the voice as an extension of the whole self because we are more than just our instrument. I strive to be the kind of teacher I once needed: one who meets the singer and voice with empathy, expertise, and a deep respect for the vulnerability singing requires. The whole of our lived experience shapes our artistry, and it’s time vocal instruction is approached with the sensitivity and understanding of trauma and nervous system regulation—because you never know the full story each student brings to the studio.

If you’re ready to deepen your connection with your voice and explore a holistic, supportive approach to vocal growth, I invite you to get in touch. Let’s discover your unique artistry together.

FAQ

Accordion FAQ
DO I NEED TO BE A GOOD SINGER TO TAKE LESSONS?
If you can talk, you can sing! No prior experience is needed to take voice lessons. All I ask is that you maintain an open heart and mind, you are willing to experiment together with your instrument, and that you practice! It is my job as a teacher to guide you in your vocal journey with methods tailored for you.

I work with adult singers, novice to young professionals, in the bel canto tradition, integrating classical technique with a trauma-informed, nervous system-aware approach. This allows for healthy, expressive vocal development that honors both your artistry and your wellbeing.

WHAT DOES "TRAUMA-INFORMED" MEAN IN THE CONTEXT OF VOCAL LESSONS?
Being trauma-informed means I approach our work with a deep understanding of nervous system function and how past experiences—especially trauma—can shape both the body and the voice. As a classically trained vocalist, I integrate this knowledge with years of technical and performance-based vocal training to support the whole singer. I hold space for your full experience, creating an environment that prioritizes emotional and physiological safety while nurturing healthy, sustainable vocal development. Together, we move at a pace that honors your capacity in the moment, using techniques that not only refine your instrument, but also support nervous system regulation, healing, resilience, and authentic artistic expression.
DO I NEED TO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT TRAUMA TO BENEFIT FROM TRAUMA-INFORMED LESSONS?
No, trauma-informed lessons are beneficial for anyone, but especially those who might feel nervous, anxious, or generally blocked when singing. This particular approach to vocal training is about creating a safe, nurturing space for your voice to thrive, regardless of your background or experiences.
WHAT MUSIC DO I NEED TO KNOW OR WORK ON IF I ENROLL IN VOICE LESSONS?
While we can work on any genre, I find that students make the most progress when working with classical music. Together, we will discover music that not only fits your voice’s capabilities, but music in a language and style that interests you.
WHY DO I NEED ORIGINAL SOUND ON ZOOM, AND HOW DO I GET THAT TO WORK?
It is important to turn on the original sound (for musicians) function on Zoom because without that particular setting engaged, the program will condense the audio, making the sound less clear. Especially for music-related services, original sound is required so certain frequencies (high and low) are not cut out. You may find simple instructions on how to enable original sound here on a desktop or mobile app app, and keep in mind you must be logged in to your Zoom account to enable original sound.
HOW MUCH DO LESSONS COST?
An individual lesson is $50 for 30 minutes. Packages and Subscriptions include 4 lessons for $200. Payments are accepted via Stripe, Wise, Venmo, and cash prior to service.
DO YOU OFFER GIFT CARDS OR GIFT CERTIFICATES FOR LESSONS?
Yes! As of Fall 2025, my business, Transpose Your Life, offers Gift Cards for all services, including voice lessons. Gift Cards can be purchased for any amount directly through Stripe. Simply input the name and email of the recipient, and they will recieve a unique, personalized discount code to use for their preferred service(s).
